The Shops at Mission Viejo

Facts: Mall Food Court Renovation, ±22,000 sq. ft., Interior renovation, Lighting and FF&E

Description: The Shops at Mission Viejo is one of Simon’s luxury properties and consists of over 1,150,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Led by Craig Chinn, AIA and Matthew Morrill, Architecture Design Collaborative (ADC) completely renovated the 22,000 sq. ft. food court, the common space handrail system, mall directories and advertisement panels. The scope of work also included the reconfiguration of the existing back of house storage and the utility coordination for future Starbucks and Juice Shop kiosks. The food court renovation included new tile flooring, specified from Marazzi and Daltile, which provides a new circulation path through the food court. The planning for this design was focused on reducing pedestrian traffic from food court customers and patrons passing through. In addition to a new furniture package, existing furniture was refinished with Wilsonart laminate to reduce costs. Updates to the food court entrance from the mall included recladding columns with Crossville Laminam, new custom column accent lights, and new column bases. Removal of the existing planters at the entrance opened up sightlines to the Food Court from the mall. Architecture Design Collaborative also designed the soffit cove lighting and custom light fixtures at the entrance and skylight locations.
