Mesa Riverview

Facts: New ground up 13,400 sq.ft. retail development

Description: Architecture Design Collaborative (ADC) recently completed a new retail building within the Mesa Riverview Shopping Center in Mesa Arizona. The project team, consisting of Chris Lindholm, Hector Ruvalcaba and Tiffany Davis, developed creative solutions to create a building design that would blend with the existing center but carry the existing design language forward to create a more contemporary feel. Since this building is located along one of the major entrances to the center the client wanted to use the opportunity to create a more up to date statement as patrons enter the center. ADC borrowed some of the best existing material cues such as brick and wood and applied them in a more unique contemporary form. As the building is readily visible on all four sides special attention was taken to making sure the theme was carried through on all sides of the building. Considering the drive-thru component of the project, this required special attention to help the drive-thru sides feel like they are in harmony with the pedestrian accessed sides. ADC coordinated with the various tenants including Starbucks and Fired Pie to ensure the building and site would function in a manner acceptable to their needs. The result is a project that enhances the existing center and helps to bring an updated feel.
