Azusa Pacific University

Facts: 46,691 SF multi-use tenant improvement including faculty offices, 3 eateries, bookstore & multi-purpose dining / seating space

ADC designed the interior redesign of a prior warehouse that was converted into a Student Commons space. This included a significantly larger, more modern and open bookstore, a brand-new coffee shop, and front renovations to a second eatery and market. Each food tenant incorporated a unique dynamic design to provide variety for branding. The central feature of the space included a large multi-purpose area that is utilized for dining, studying, and entertainment. Rising from the lower level is a large bleacher seating installation that provides optional places for dining and an optimal layout for over a hundred students to view lectures or entertainment. Offices for the university’s athletic department, a storage mezzanine, and a small art gallery round out the project program. Materials included the use of multiple natural wood veneers, colorful and geometric tiles, and bold sprinkles of the Universities’ signature red. Bold, graphic, front illuminated lighting also adds a welcoming and contemporary touch to the space while providing clear wayfinding.
