Making Complexity Buildable
Thomas brings a highly technical and problem-solving mindset to his role as Senior Job Captain at ADC. His work spans design development, construction documentation, detailing, code analysis, permitting, field verification, and quality assurance, along with helping teammates troubleshoot and improve their use of Revit and CAD.
The part of architecture he enjoys most is solving problems—particularly when resolving one issue unexpectedly solves several others along the way. On tenant improvement projects, Thomas looks carefully at how existing building systems can be adapted to accommodate a client’s new requirements. On new construction, he focuses on finding the right balance between the client’s goals, jurisdictional requirements, and an efficient path toward getting the project built.
Thomas also values the iterative nature of collaboration. He enjoys the back-and-forth that happens when clients, architects, consultants, and contractors bring different perspectives to the same challenge. Those conversations often produce solutions that no single member of the team would have reached independently.
For Thomas, a successful project is ultimately one that works after it is built—one that has been thoughtfully designed, well executed by the construction team, and delivers what the client hoped to achieve. He also enjoys sharing what he has learned, whether that means coordinating more effectively with teammates or helping expand the technical knowledge of the people around him.
