Brooke Burdge
Job Captain
Master of Architecture | Arizona State University
Project Coordination | Documentation | Construction
“Good design should be both functional and purposeful. It has to work for the people using it and make sense in the real world.”
Design with a Purpose
As a Job Captain at ADC, Brooke helps move projects from design through documentation and permitting, coordinating the many people and decisions required along the way. Her work includes developing construction documents, coordinating consultants, responding to plan review comments, and working through the technical and design challenges that inevitably arise as a project develops.
Communication is a major part of that role. Brooke often works between the client, project manager, consultants, and the rest of the project team to keep information moving and projects on track. She enjoys the collaborative nature of architecture and the opportunity to learn from people with different backgrounds, experiences, and areas of expertise.
Her approach begins with understanding what a project needs to accomplish. From there, she looks for solutions that are appealing, functional, purposeful, and realistic to build. She particularly enjoys seeing projects during construction, when drawings become physical spaces and the lessons learned in the field can be carried into the next design.
Originally from San Diego, Brooke earned her Master of Architecture from Arizona State University and spent several years in Phoenix working at a small commercial architecture firm before returning to Southern California. She is currently working toward architectural licensure in Arizona and California.
Away from work, Brooke enjoys spending time with friends and family, taking her dachshund, Chester, to the beach, and continuing an unofficial mission to try a new coffee shop each weekend.
