Client: Perimeter Mall
Description: Architecture Design Collaborative (ADC) has worked on the Perimeter Mall renovation project in its entirety. Led by Craig Chinn, AIA and Alexandra Gomez, The Cloud project was directed at revitalizing the dark corridor in front of Apple and Abercrombie & Fitch of the 2nd floor of the mall’s Dillards Wing. Due to the imbalance of poor lighting and natural sunlight from the skylights down the wing coming into this space, the intent was to create a light fixture that could provide ample visibility in the area while also incorporating a unique aestheticism for the shoppers as they navigate through the space. Veering away from the rigid orthogonal build outs throughout the rest of the project, The Cloud took a rather organic approach through a series of 3-form panels, each custom made carefully with slight adjustments, to cascade as shoppers walked from one side to another. Lit by Birchwood Lighting’s NOLAN LED linear lights, the translucent 3Form panels provided The Cloud the signature transparency resembling natural clouds in the sky.
