Finding the Strategy Behind the Design
As a Project Manager and Architect at ADC, Tuong brings a practical, experienced perspective to both design and project leadership. He spends much of his time listening to clients, understanding the goals and constraints of a project, and helping teams develop a clear strategy for moving the work forward.
Tuong is especially interested in the point where program, function, and experience begin to shape the design. His approach is clean and purposeful, with an emphasis on proportion, sightlines, and simple forms, often balanced by a carefully placed material, texture, or focal element. Just as important, he believes clients should understand the options in front of them so they can make informed decisions throughout the process.
Collaboration is central to how he works. Tuong values the different perspectives that clients, consultants, contractors, and colleagues bring to a project, and he sees that exchange as one of the best ways to uncover solutions that might not emerge individually.
He is particularly drawn to adaptive reuse and the challenge of giving an existing place a new purpose. That interest reflects what has kept him engaged in architecture over the years: drawing, creating, problem-solving, and figuring out how things come together. Outside the office, Tuong has built a large vinyl record collection and still enjoys the experience of listening to records as much as the artwork and packaging that come with them.
