Additional Capabilities: Planning

Casa Querencia transforms an unusually shaped 0.9-acre site along Santa Ana’s 17th Street and adjacent to the Santa Ana Freeway into permanent supportive housing for residents who have experienced chronic homelessness. Developed by Community Development Partners in partnership with Mercy House, the 57-unit community combines studio and one-bedroom homes with resident services and shared spaces focused on health, connection, and long-term stability.

ADC provided architecture and interior design, working from a design concept developed by CityFabrick. Three interconnected building forms help buffer the community from the freeway while open walkways and stairs bring natural light and air deep into the project. Community rooms, service spaces, a fitness center, gardens, outdoor gathering areas, and rooftop and podium decks give residents places to connect throughout the property. Rooftop solar, efficient fixtures and appliances, and sustainable materials contributed to the project’s LEED Gold certification.
