ADC designed the Ashley Furniture store in Salt Lake City as a reuse of an existing building rather than a new box. The work kept the historic William Volker and Company entry and used it as the base of a new branded tower, so the storefront reads as Ashley without erasing the building that was already there.

The exterior connects that older entry to Ashley’s current identity: a taller branded mark, a clearer arrival, and a facade that can hold the scale of a furniture store. Inside, the plan is a tenant improvement for showroom, warehouse, and loading — the same kit ADC uses on Ashley stores nationally, fitted to this shell.

The Salt Lake City store is one project in a long Ashley relationship. It is the location that has to do two jobs at once: operate as a contemporary Homestore and keep a piece of the site’s history on the street.
