Ashley Modesto transformed a former OfficeMax into a new 19,000-square-foot Ashley HomeStore, adapting an existing retail space to the furniture brand’s showroom format. The store opened in July 2017 at 3900 Sisk Road, giving Ashley a new presence within an established Modesto shopping center rather than requiring new ground-up construction.
ADC’s work combined an interior tenant improvement with exterior façade upgrades, translating Ashley’s established retail identity to the existing building. Inside, the large-format space was organized to support furniture, bedroom, mattress, and home-accessory displays while maintaining clear circulation across the showroom. Exterior improvements strengthened the storefront and brand visibility, helping reposition the former office-supply space as a furniture destination. The project reflects ADC’s broader work with Ashley and HMC Construction, adapting existing retail buildings for new stores while coordinating architectural, building-system, and construction requirements. Modesto permit records identify HMC Construction on work for the Ashley space during the 2017 buildout.
