Azulé Taqueria brought a relaxed, beach-inspired taco concept to the second level of The Gallery Food Hall on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade. The compact fast-casual restaurant was one of several distinct food concepts within the redeveloped food hall, requiring a strong individual identity while working within a small footprint and the larger shared dining environment. Azulé opened in 2018 as part of K2 Restaurants’ growing collection of concepts at The Gallery. Eater LA

ADC developed the restaurant around an open service counter and visible kitchen, using a restrained palette of weathered white wood, light tile and simple industrial elements. A large woven palm canopy extends above the storefront, softening the exposed food hall structure while string lighting adds warmth and gives the counter its own ceiling plane. Cactus planting, bright red seating, blue branding and an ocean mural reinforce the casual coastal character without turning the small space into a themed restaurant.

The result is a compact tenant that reads clearly from across the food hall while still feeling connected to The Gallery around it. The design uses a few strong materials and details to turn a straightforward counter-service operation into a recognizable destination.
