Bafang Cypress helped establish a U.S. design language for a Taiwanese brand built around a simple idea: bringing people together over food. Founded in Taipei in 1998, Bafang grew from a neighborhood potsticker shop into an international fast-casual restaurant company. As the brand expanded in Southern California, ADC worked with Bafang to translate that identity into a restaurant environment suited to its U.S. locations.
The design organizes the restaurant around a central wood-slat portal that frames communal seating along with the shared sauce and beverage station. It creates an obvious destination within the space and helps customers understand where to order, gather, dine, and move through the restaurant. A black soffit defines the point-of-sale area, while oversized illuminated branding is visible from both inside and outside. Light gray finishes, warm wood, clean lines, and large-scale graphics create a consistent backdrop for Bafang’s identity and tell more of the brand story without competing with the activity of the restaurant. ADC’s original project description confirms these elements were developed as part of the new prototype.
