ADC transformed a 12,365-square-foot outdoor court at Baybrook Mall in Friendswood into an active gathering space connecting the enclosed mall with its newer open-air lifestyle area. Rather than leaving the transition as circulation space, the project created a destination for families and a reason to spend more time at the center. ADC’s own project material identifies the space as a court activation tied directly to the lifestyle expansion.

The design combines a Luckey Climber, interactive musical elements, artificial turf, and seating positioned so parents can comfortably watch children at play. A shade structure and integrated lighting extend the usefulness of the space through the day and help define the court as a distinct place within the larger shopping center. The play area remains part of Baybrook Mall’s current family amenities near the lifestyle center.
