County of San Bernardino

ADC transformed a former movie theater into a large-scale office facility for the County of San Bernardino, giving a highly specialized existing building an entirely new purpose. The conversion required extensive intervention, including removal of the theater’s sloped and stepped floor systems and construction of new level floor plates suitable for office use. The completed facility incorporates open work areas, meeting and training rooms, employee support spaces, public waiting areas, and upgraded restrooms, all coordinated within the constraints of the former theater structure.

The project also included significant improvements to the building and site infrastructure, including an extensive rooftop solar panel system that supports the facility’s long-term energy performance. Working through the unusual structural, dimensional, and technical conditions of the existing building, ADC helped reposition an obsolete entertainment property into a functional civic workplace with a substantially extended useful life.
