Project Facts: Complete Interior Renovation · Common Areas + Courts · Food Court Renovation · New Finishes + Lighting
Project Year: 2016
Project Role: Architect
ADC served as architect for the complete 2016 interior renovation of Cumberland Mall in Atlanta. The project updated the common areas, major courts, circulation spaces, and food court throughout the established regional shopping center. Rather than addressing individual areas as separate improvements, the renovation was developed as a coordinated update intended to give the mall a more consistent architectural character and improve the overall customer experience.
Working with Sims Patrick Studio as interior designer, ADC developed and coordinated the architectural scope throughout the center. The work included new finishes, flooring, ceilings, lighting integration, railings, columns, and other common-area architectural elements. Existing courts were refreshed with new gathering areas and amenities while maintaining the basic organization of the active two-level mall.
The food court received one of the most significant transformations. Architecture, finishes, lighting, furniture, and dining areas were brought together to create a more comfortable and contemporary environment distinct from the surrounding mall circulation. The completed renovation repositioned Cumberland Mall without requiring wholesale reconstruction, extending the life of the existing property through focused improvements to the spaces customers use most.
