ADC worked with HMC on the conversion of a former Best Buy in Duarte for a new Vallarta Supermarkets location. Our role was on the landlord side of the project, with the architectural work focused primarily on the exterior façade and the changes needed to prepare the existing building for its new tenant.

The former big-box storefront was reworked to create a stronger entrance and a building presence more appropriate for a grocery use. ADC developed the façade modifications and coordinated the exterior architecture around Vallarta’s signage and tenant requirements while working within the existing structure.

ADC was not the architect for Vallarta’s interior store design. Our scope remained focused on the landlord improvements, along with limited demolition and related work needed to turn over the building for the tenant. The completed project shows how a targeted exterior renovation can reposition an existing retail building for a very different use without rebuilding what already works.
