ADC teamed up with GGP to create a new children’s play experience for various properties across their nationwide portfolio. This was the first location for the prototype roll out. The concept was to create a children’s play area within an inline tenant space rather than the traditional play area in the center of the mall to create a more intimate and secured environment for the children and parents. The program includes open play space with various vibrant colored play elements appropriate for different age groups from infants to toddlers to enjoy. The various play elements encourage physical activity and also promotes brain and motor skills as the children explore. Also included in the program is an enclosed workshop space to allow for various sponsors to host private workshops and events while also allowing families to hold private parties. Café tables and bar top seating provide parents a place to sit and supervise their children at play. Vending machines provide healthy snacks for snack time and also offer products for parents like their much-needed coffee. The storefront design varies for each location adapting to the existing conditions while also making slight modifications to continue the “Play” branding from one mall to the next. Since opening the first prototype there has been a high demand for more of these spaces starting at the neighboring mall properties and spreading nationwide as this concept has proven to be very successful.
