San Juan Capistrano City Hall is a new 16,000 SF civic building developed as part of Salida del Sol, a mixed-use project combining a new City Hall with permanent supportive housing on the City’s existing Paseo Adelanto site. ADC worked with Jamboree Housing Corporation and the City of San Juan Capistrano on the architecture of the new civic building.

The City Hall replaces the aging temporary facility that had occupied the site for decades. The new building organizes public services around a one-stop-shop approach, allowing residents to reach multiple City departments during a single visit rather than moving between separate offices.

The architecture is integrated with the larger Salida del Sol development while maintaining a distinct civic presence. The project was also planned around renewable energy, energy storage, and other sustainable strategies developed for the combined City Hall and housing complex.

The result brings two very different needs together on one site: a permanent home for City operations and permanent supportive housing for the community. That public-private partnership has since received several regional and industry awards for its approach to civic development, housing, and land use.
